[UPDATED] Taiwan now visa-free for Filipinos

Visa-free for Filipinos to enter the Republic of China (Taiwan ROC) has been confirmed by the the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines. In the policy, Filipinos are given 14 days for tourism starting 1 November 2017 until 31 July 2018. This move is in lined with the “New Southbound Policy” to build closer ties with the Philippines. Here are the requirements the must meet in order to be eligible for the visa-free entry:

  1. An ordinary/regular passport with remaining validity of at least six months from the date of entry;
  2. A return ticket or a ticket for the traveler’s next destination and a visa for that destination if it is required;
  3. No criminal record in Taiwan;
  4. A proof of accommodation (hotel) booking or host/sponsor’s contact information /or arrangements of tour, travel, visit, events and meeting etc.

People with diplomatic and official passport holders are not eligible for the visa-free treatment. Those who intend to stay for study, work, missionary, employment and other gainful activities should still apply for appropriate visa.
